Setting Secondary DNS

Hosting Controller creates a secondary DNS entry of primary zone in Secondary DNS server if Secondary DNS is enabled in Preferences.

Setting Hosting Controller to manage Secondary DNS involves 2 steps.

  1. Installation and configuration of HC Secondary Setup on secondary DNS machine. See the Installation section for setup instructions.

  2. Configuration on both primary and remote machines.

Configuration On Primary HC Machine:

  1. Login into Hosting Controller as Host Administrator. Click Preferences, click NameServer Settings.

  2. Enable checkbox Secondary DNS Enabled.

  3. Provide the IP of secondary DNS server in Secondary DNS IP box.

  4. Click on button.

 


 

Configuration On Remote HC Machine:

  1. In Start menu Programs folder, go to Hosting Controller and click Settings. The Settings utility dialog will appear.

  2. In Settings dialog, click on DNS tab and check the Enabled check box.

  3. Enter the following information.

  1. Click on Servers tab, enter the IP address of the primary machine in Primary Server IP box. Click Ok.

After configuration make sure.

  1. DCOM is configured.

  2. HostingController service is running on both primary and secondary machine. Refer to Service Manager for more information.
