Configuring HC to manage SQL server |
Hosting Controller enables you to set up and control all of the settings for SQL Server, if you have it installed on your web server. The settings include the server name, administrator name and password, IP address, whether you are using an UNC path a virtual server that is holding the SQL data file, and whether that server is on a remote machine.
To set up SQL Server:
Click on the MS SQL Settings link in the Preferences menu.
Enter the name of the server in the SQL Server Name field.
Enter the administrator name and password for SQL Server in the SQL Server Administrator Name and SQL Server Administrator Password fields. Repeat the password in the Retype Password field.
Enter the IP address of the SQL server in SQL Server IP Address. e.g. 192.168.0.1.
Enter a comma-separated list of available SQL Server names in the Available SQL Servers field. e.g. (local), Alpha, 192.168.0.139.
Click on the SQL Server on Remote Machine tick box if your SQL Server is on a remote computer.
Click
on the Use UNC Path tick box if
you are using a virtual folder path to the server that holds the SQL Server
data file.
Note: All SQL Server users need access this folder - refer to
Folder Security for more information.
Enter the location of the UNC folder in the UNC Path field, if required.
Click
on the button.
